Metal chests fished up from Messages in Bottles/ Waterstained SOSes, found with Fishing skill of 75 or higher, are a source of metal chests without inscriptions on them. The decorative items inside may display "recovered from a shipwreck", but the chests themselves do not.

You can't feed them on OSI Right. NPCs absolutely should decline being given unsolicited sausage of any kind. Craft wooden boxes or small crates of appropriate Tinkering skill. It helps to develop Tinkering skill at the same time as Lockpicking skill. Possible bug:
NPC hireling prefers to eat meat, cooked or raw, but will not eat fish, fruit, vegetables, bread, or cheese.
Also exhibits behavior of a tamed animal.
