As i remember back in the period that Demise is set in it didn't work like that then.

When you cast dispel field on a gate it only makes the side your on dispel and leaves the other side still visible and use-able.

Well, just because they have moved the server on something in their possession so that the PLAYERS can still log in and enjoy the game, I'm not really sure that actually means that all of a sudden someone will have an extra 60 hours a week to dedicate on future direction, coding, and solving issues...
