sci-fi is never dull, because the whole point of it is to treat the fantastic as the mundane.
I love sci-fi. Good sci-fi. This was a case of the setting being more interesting than the characters. Not a good thing to do in what was supposed to be a character driven story. You can do both well.

That's why the anime worked for me and this didn't. The things I do remember about the story and characters are changed in the worst possible ways.

hmm, maybe.

i liked it, but maybe you have a point. i might be giving it a bit too much credit, it could have been better.

it coulda been a lot worse is the thing. i think it was just better than i expected, so i like it, so im giving it the benefit of the doubt

Doctor sleep, a sequel to the shining... one of the better movies I've seen in a few years, despite the ridiculous premise of Danny fighting vampires. Watch it or die, I'd prefer you die... so...

Don't ever watch Star Trek Picard while drinking. So depressing. Don't watch it sober either. So depressing... I think I'm hate-watching at this point.

It has some of the old actors, none of their characters are there. Nor is Picard...

yeah, true...

i dunno it's at least watchable, which is much better than abrams trek and STD. they are like.. genuinely repulsive, painful to watch.

i can give Abrams a pass because TOS was kinda cowboys in space action as well.

im just watching Defiance again. that's a really good series.
if you want a classic then check out Babylon 5.
Altered Carbon is a good new one, but not much to it. just a single series.
Expanse is excellent.
Orville is the real new star trek, or spiritual successor i suppose. like path of exile is better than diablo 3.
Westworld.. season 1 was awesome, season 2 not so much.
Battlestar if you've not seen it.
Stargate SG1 and Atlantis are well worth watching through. not epic but consistently good.

if you wanna scrape the barrel a bit there's also like..
Krypton is surprisingly not that bad.
Continuum has come cool ideas.
Firefly's not bad, but joss whedon is a bit of a simp.
Farscape's alright...
Dark Matter and Killjoys can be entertaining but they're pretty much trash really.

watch lexx if you wanna trip lol

it's not really sci-fi, it's more high fantasy.. and weird... so so weird.

just watching the new/last picard ep.

8 mins in, and as much as it's pissing me off with it's whole super elite all female agencies, with their foremothers and all that bollox.

i do love seven of nine ^.^
she is actually making the show for me, not picard.

Love Babylon 5, I can never get people to watch once they see the cgi, lol. Used to watch lexx on the scifi channel. It was ok. If I didn't want to punch seth mcfarlane in the face everytime I saw him I'd give the orville a chance.

Still watching Picard to see how much dumberer it can get lol

picard is only like 60% crap... maybe 75%
there's some good stuff... unlike STD which is 100% crap.

orville's good dude, i know what you mean about seth macfarlin, but it's an ensemble like trek is supposed to be, so it's not just about 1 character.

the problem with B5 is the first season tbh... a lot of series like Black Adder, Red Dwarf.. even star trek TNG; change a lot from season 1 to season 2. i got my mate to watch B5 by just picking out a few necessary episodes from season 1, then starting from season 2. most of season 1 can be skipped really. but they will go back and watch the first season after finishing it.

after he finished B5, he said it was like a spiritual experience lol
it does kinda explain the universe.

ya should watch Defiance, it's a really good sci-fi.

it's actually a series of a game, but i never bothered with the game.
the series alone is really well written.

just starting season 2, it's very morish
