Sitting for 6 or more hours per day makes you 40% more likely to die within 15 years than someone who sits for less than three hours a day.

Astronauts in space must remember to pee every couple of hours.

The lack of gravity makes it hard for them to tell when their bladder is full since the organ's stretch receptors don't feel the weight of the liquid.

yeah but happy people can be kinda insufferable cos they never let you get a word in edgeways.

interestingly, you know the trick to being a good conversationalist, is being quiet. they did a test where they counted how many words people said, and how highly they would rate the conversation they had. they found a direct correlation between how much people talked, and how much they enjoyed the conversation. people dont like to listen, they like to talk.

they wanna believe they've told you something interesting, and now you think they're awesome. it's ironic really, because the opposite is true lol.

it's actually being quiet and listening to them talk that makes them feel good, and that makes them want to spend time with you, which is what being a good conversationalist is; being quiet. weird innit. maybe the depressed people just know that... when you talk like that, you're kinda directing the conversation, but you're really giving people the opportunity to interrupt and take over.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have a more recent National Championship (1990) than their rival the Georgia Bulldogs (1980).

Georgia's National Title is now closer to Pearl Harbor than it is to today

i dont think im intelligent.... i just think most people are stupid :P
is that the same?
i think im normal by historical standards. just modern people have been conditioned into being consumers instead of people... i started out doing philosophy at uni before i switched to games design (far better funded course). there have been some really smart people! but modern people are kinda... not... some are.. but it's not mainstream to be like a renaissance man type thing. they want specialists and workers, cogs for a system.. people like me dont have a lot of use in such a big society.
i think im normal, it's everyone else that's weird

but like, i think we do this, so we can get shit done, a big society can achieve far more than free thinking people that couldn't work together very well

end of the day, im not talking about you lot when im saying most people are dumb :P
you play uo for a reason, cos you're all cool people. thats why i play it ^.^
this game is a work of art, it's really something special. you're all here because you appreciate that.
even at your worst you're better than 99% of communities.

pretty high brow game is uo ;)

maybe that's part of the problem... we only have the intelligent players on here and we need more plebeian sorta players.
they are super important for a wider societal role.. economy has kinda changed to accommodate the elitism. should balance out actually, cheap items to make decent characters to play with.

it's why i've always argued for keeping the chinese tho
cos they're hard workers :P
they create the society for the elites to strut about in. otherwise there's no point being elite in an empty world.
it's the basic economic model for free to play games. you make the money off 1% of the player base. the rest populate the world for that 1%.

that's why i will always help new players, because really helping them is helping yourself. it helps to populate the world in which you can then play. then the fun for elite players, is playing with new players, and being mighty!

there are two kinds of elites i think... those that think they have power, and those that think they have responsibility.

that's part of why i love UO, cos it's a microcosm of a real society. it has no gimmick that gets tiresome, it's just raw mechanics, and it's a masterpiece of emergent gameplay. it's from a time when games dared to dream big. it's a renaissance style game, it's not made to do one thing very well and then be thrown out or replaced; it's a virtual world. a small one. but a genuine functioning one.

that's what wow killed, the idea of mmos being virtual worlds. instead they became about 'shared experiences'.. tailor made... i think it was a very sad turn of events for the entire games industry.

sorry i didn't mean to kill the interesting facts thread...
umm..

the thing that makes earl grey tea what it is, is an oil called Bergamot, it's made from a citrus fruit that's too strong to eat, and grows just below the alps. so technically, it's italian tea.
