Bard Cool Down Timers

Some strange stuff happening here

Discordance
I get the cursor and the message for whom I want to target with discordance
If the target can not be seen
Or
If a corpse opens up ( I have it set to open within 2 tiles )

I will lose the targeting cursor and get in to the 10 second cool down

Yet the same thing does not happen for Peacemaking and Provocation
I just hit my hotkey again and the targeting cursor is ready to go with no cool down

Peacemaking ( a couple of questions )
A successful attempt puts me in a 6 second cool down
A failed attempt puts me in a 10 second cool down

Shouldn't that be the other way around?
When did it go to 6 seconds?
Are we using timers past the Demise cut-off?

So basically I can Peace and Discord or Peace and Provoke in just over 6 seconds

I know IP did the testing for Discord and Peace for this era because at 1 time Discord had a 1 second cool down time on Demise

Please fix this or do I have to tell the boy to use steam and a script and let it play the game for him?

My provo/disco tamer will be totally happy, if this get fixed :> Discord is the only bardic skill that goes on cooldown, if u hit a target that can't be seen or out of range.

Here is another..............or

If while you are hunting and you use up the an instrument if you go to use your Discord skill you get the message "That is too far away" or something like that and you get put in a cool down.
Only Discord, this does not happen for Provoke or Peace. As soon as you choose your new instrument you can use Provoke or Peace right away

Discordance was given a cooldown after Eternity players started putting chars with a macro to discord everything on Oaks spawn to help themselfs spawn.

Discordance always had a cool down.
On Demise the cool down was 1 second which was wrong and that was 1 of a few bugs with the skill.

It seems like someone has been messing around with some of the coding re- peacemaking cool down success and failure times

An item added to the game never being added

There are probably more........

If the target cannot be seen, Discordance is indeed giving a 10 second delay, when on OSI you can use the skill again immediately. This will need fixing.

Opening a corpse, however, should not be interrupting your target on Demise. Your target stays up and you can still target something for Discordance (just tested this, it also works the same on OSI).

Double clicking an item that overrides your current Discordance target though (like a dagger), does give you a 10 second cooldown, both on Demise and OSI. This is accurate behavior.

Peacemaking delays have never been changed on Demise (at least not in the past 14 years as far as I can tell).

Delay for successful targeted peace: 5 seconds
Delay for failed targeted peace (fail on Peacemaking check): 10 seconds
Delay for failed targeted peace (fail on Musicianship check): 5 seconds

OSI testing:

Delay for successful targeted peace: 8 seconds
Delay for failed targeted peace (fail on Peacemaking check): 5 seconds
Delay for failed targeted peace (fail on Musicianship check): 5 seconds

Unless these have changed recently on OSI, we indeed have some incorrect delays on Peacemaking.

"That is too far away" and being put in a cooldown is probably the result of targeting a monster as your new instrument. This does appear to cause a cooldown on Demise for Discordance, but not for Peacemaking or Provocation.

On OSI this cooldown (when targeting a monster as your new instrument) happens for Discordance and Peacemaking, but not for Provocation. 🤔

Some complications:

https://uo2.stratics.com/skill-guides/s ... ip/6715-2/
Peacemake has a delay of 5 seconds following a successful attempt and 10 seconds following a failure.
According to Stratics our delays are/were correct. 🤔

If this was a bug, perhaps, they probably did switch the delays around at some point. Also, it seems the 8 seconds observed previously is most likely due to Publish 67:

http://www.uoguide.com/Publish_67
  • Bard Skill Timeout reduced to 8 Seconds.
I assume it was a 10 second skill delay before? (We may need to increase the Discordance delay, as it was changed to 8 seconds following OSI tests in August 2015.)

Did they change the timers/timing because of the bard masteries?
