spell channeling

So i have a sword and a shield, plus ive tried a mage weapon with spell channeling on it. My pally drops his gear when casting, and the spell channeling mage -29 xbow drops when he casts too. Has there been an update that makes them drop their gear?

Check your razor/steam auto unequip on casting options maybe.
