Six on Saturday

Post by Asteria »

The 1st Saturday of each month (2nd Saturday for this month only) a new thread will be posted and pinned for a monthly Q&A with staff. Players will have 2 weeks to post questions to staff, at the end of 2 weeks, 6 questions will be chosen for staff to answer. On the 1st Saturday of the next month, the answers will be provided in the Q&A thread for that month, the thread will be archived and a new thread for the next month will be posted and pinned.

Please limit the quantity and quality of posts. The thread will be closely monitored. Likes of posts will be considered votes for that question, but staff reserves the right to choose which questions will be answered based on quality, relevance, and importance.

May 2020 Questions Answered-
Question 1: What direction are you taking fel casting? The current test center casting is more “old demise” (2fc/10fcr). Will there be a focus on trying to address casting in pvp?
Answer: Our priority is to have the same casting mechanics in all facets. The current TC casting was an attempt to find a middle ground between Demise’s current Felucca and classic casting, but it appears this approach hasn’t been as well received as we’d hoped.
We are planning to consult with players to resolve any remaining issues in Demise’s current Felucca casting, to see if improved OSI emulation is the way to go, instead of the current TC casting.

Question 2:Are you planning to keep following OSI, or produce a lot more custom content, and if so; would this include changes to the rules of the game, or just extra aesthetics and narrative?
Answer: For now, we intend to stick to the Mondain’s Legacy expansion when it comes to the core game mechanics. (Exceptions to this include bugs or game balance issues.) There are still some key ML features missing we intend to address.
We will, however, continue to create custom content as well. Mostly this will be reserved for our shard events and prizes.

Question 3: Is anyone actively working on bugs\development and if so what are you working on currently?
Answer: Between other necessary code development (e.g. website and shard maintenance, shard events), we do continue to work on bug fixes. We like to publish these in batches, as this helps to keep our codebase and forums tidy. Among the current bug fixes being worked on is pet mounting during combat, monster fleeing behavior and various miscellaneous bugs.

Question 4: Are there any plans to include item bless deeds to the donation store? Would love to bless my old ring, old necklace, and Friends of the Library Reading Lantern.
Answer: We are looking into expanding the donation store reward selection, but we currently do not have plans for adding the item bless deed. We encourage you to use the item insurance system!

Question 5:Are we gonna ever get the pet vendors? I always see people constantly taming cusidhe, and trying to sell them, we should get the pet vendors eventually so people can just sell them without the effort.
Answer: We like the New Magincia pet vendor system and would love to add it here too! We do however have other priorities before we plan to consider systems from later expansions.

Question 6:Are there any plans to change the heartwood quest in order to discourage AFK gathering?
Answer: We would like to point out that, despite macro usage being common, a majority of players do respond to manual staff attendance checks. Players that do not follow our attended gathering rules are actioned accordingly.
We are considering changes to the quest system, but also don’t want to excessively affect normal gameplay. One thing we have already changed in the past is the added requirement to perform other quests, not just the one for bolts which are easily available. This did however lead to the players having to run back and forth, which we understand can be disconcerting when first observed.

Are you guys willing to make custom changes to the server that aren’t era accurate or osi specific to address some balance issues or opening up permanent content (not just event content)? Just a few examples would be lowering pouch trap damage and adjusting mortal strike in pvp, or expanding pets (Meta, specials, and leveling) and end game pvm content.

And if so, what do you guys have in mind?

how do you plan to enforce the rules against AFK farming/bod and hw collecting/gold farming. and What do you plan to do to fix the current broken economy that have been caused by the last 15 years of not enforcing those rules?

While I do understand a lot of player made suggestions for PvP do not get any response or traction due to being too over-the-top and the toxicity that comes along with the PvP community however, there have been many reasonable player suggestions over the years for Automated PvP events that would in fact benefit the shard long term.

Here is a small compiled list of PvP suggestions my guild made directly to the staff team quite a while ago now. -

Plenty of other players have had great suggestions over the years which could have been worked with to some degree as well.

As it stands our Felucca community is slowly dying without any glimmer of hope towards revitalization, it seems that unfortunately there isn't anyone with a drive or passion for PvP on the current staff team and thus a lot of the suggestions have fell on deaf ears.

I believe we should have staff roles dedicated to the PvP community, these hypothetical roles however should be heavily restricted to only hosting and promoting PvP events as well as being a necessary link between the players and administration for suggestions. These roles shouldn't have the ability to impose on anything else within the community such AFK checks or the ability to Teleport to specific players.

My questions to the team would be;

Is there any intention to revitalize the PvP scene with any custom changes such as automated events or a faction system re-work?

Do you guys feel it would be possible to eventually dedicate event moderator staff roles to prominent PvP figures within our community?

Currently, there is no real incentive to do champ spawns or harrowers(specifically) because 2 of the top 3 artifacts for a pvper only drop one time a year and the lack of new players makes powerscrolls ever decreasing in value. The Conjurer's Garb has almost completely replaced the Ari robe and cut it's value over in half. All the darkside pigments used on them were virtually wasted by people thinking that it would be their longterm robe option. My question is: Will we ever see these two game changing pvp artifacts any time other than Halloweentown, or perhaps as a replacement or addition for some Felluca artifact drops, particularly the Harrower to help encourage objective based pvp as they were intended?

We have a huge back log of bugs. There's a never ending desire for new content. So my question is:

Is anyone actively working on bugs\development and if so what are you working on currently?

When will you look at hiring more GM's that are on European time to deal with the ever increasing cheating that occurs during 8am - 7pm GMT?

Why dont we have automatically weekly pvp events that gives us PvP points? and these points should allows owner to choice something great
You should create some PvP and PvM monsters that spawns every week or two and gives good drops
